Stichting Vluchteling helps millions of refugees and IDP’s in each relief stage, beginning from the moment they become a refugee to the day they return to their own country or are able to settle elsewhere. In the Netherlands, Stichting Vluchteling is able to offer a high level of knowledge about refugee issues.
1. Humanitarian aid for refugees
1.1. Emergency assistance
Goal: To improve survival chances for refugees and IDPs in emergency situations by fulfilling the basic necessities of life.
Spearheads: food, water, sanitation, shelter, medical care.
1.2. Aid during prolonged refugee situations
Goal: To help refugees and IDPs become less dependent on aid by providing education and the necessary tools to enable them to set up a life of their own. Spearheads: economic activities, healthcare, education and vocational training.
1.3. Recovery and reconstruction after return
Goal: to facilitate the voluntary return of refugees and IDPs by contributing to the security, recovery and reconstruction of their country.
Spearheads: Reconstruction of basic facilities, stimulate the economic recovery and improve the security by reconciliation and conflict management.
2. Public Information
Goal: Strengthening solidarity with refugees and IDPs among the general public by giving information about refugee situations all over the world.
Spearheads: Information for youngsters and private donators.
3. Lobby
Goal: To focus attention on refugee crises and the prevention of them.
To encourage permanent solutions for refugee issues in national and international policies.
Spearheads: To update the knowledge of Dutch politicians about refugee and IDPs issues, in particular about expected crises.
