Organization

The national character of the foundation is emphasized by the participation of twelve important institutions and organizations in its Supervisory Council:  the major church denominations; the national trade unions; the federation of employers’ organizations; the national women’s league; a number of Dutch relief agencies; and Unhcr. Some of these organizations are also represented on the Board of the foundation.  Her Majesty Queen Beatrix is the patron of the foundation.  The foundation operates from its headquarters in The Hague and is staffed by 17 professionals.

Decisions on funding support for projects are taken by the Board after review of proposals by program staff and upon recommendation of a project committee.  This committee is composed of one board member, the director and one staff member. Program staff oversees the implementation of projects through regular contact with the implementing partners and through field visits.
